Want to join a committee, email marketing@bentonpark.org. We’d love to hear from you.

Building Review Committee

Chair: Tim Mulligan | Email
The Building Review Committee evaluates requests for renovations to Benton Park Neighborhood buildings and requests for new business licensing. The Committee makes recommendations to the Executive Board and general membership about Association support for or opposition to such requests and issues letters of support reflecting the opinion of the Association. The letters of support are used by renovators and business owners in their quest for City permits.

English Cave Community Garden Committee

Chair: Bill Kranz | Email | Read Bill’s Bio
The Garden Committee manages utilization and upkeep of the neighborhood garden. It is responsible for registration of members for garden plot spaces and organization of work days to maintain the public parts of the garden. Open meetings are held monthly generally at a gardener's house during the growing season May through September. The Garden Committee meets the last Wednesday of the month at 7:15 p.m. For more information, contact Bill Kranz.

Within the English Cave Community Garden Committee is a sub-committee titled the English Cave Recovery Project. Their work is dedicated to recovering English Cave. If you have questions about this recovery effort, englishcave@bentonpark.org.

Benton Park Dog Park Committee

Chair: Hayley Johnston
The mission of the Benton Park Dog Park is to foster positive community engagement by providing a safe, fenced environment for owners and their dogs to exercise, socialize, and train. It is our aim to promote responsible pet ownership. For more information, visit bentonparkdogpark.com.

Safety committee

Chair: Derrick Kilgore | Email

Neighborhood safety is the focus of this committee, and research has shown that lighting makes a difference in crime levels. Periodically, groups of neighbors walk the streets and note areas where streetlights or porch lights are out or malfunctioning. The committee works with our Stabilization Officer and our assigned police officer to report, investigate and monitor any criminal activity. Recent efforts have focused upon developing a database of neighbors with street video cameras that can be called upon by police when investigating crimes.
