BPNA Announces its 2012 Events Season

The Benton Park Neighborhood Association is proud to announce its 2012 events season.  We are planning a 5K run, 3 concerts, a National Night Out party, a professional cycling event, an old fashioned summer picnic in the park, a gourd glow, and a grand Holiday Party. Many events are FREE, family-friendly and most are pet friendly. These events are a great way to meet your neighbors and enjoy life in our little corner of St. Louis. Concerts and races include food and beverages for sale as well as a variety of other attractions. You could also leave your wallet at home and just bring a picnic blanket and basket.  Here is a summary of what we have planned...

May 19, 2012: 5K Run/Walk/Stroll & Kids Fun Run: "Reclaiming the '80s!": This will be our 2nd annual 5K event with awards & prizes, 80s music, an 80s costume contest and a Post-race festival!

June 2, 2012: Blues in Benton Park Concert: 5 pm to 10 pm. A great kickoff to the summer concert series. This will be our 5th annual Blues in Benton Park, featuring local musical talent with food, drink, a pet adoption event and a pet chipping event.

July 3, 2012: BPNA Picnic in the Park: The neighborhood association will host a pot luck picnic in Benton Park the evening of July 3 from 5 pm to dusk. This will double as our July BPNA monthly meeting. All are welcome to attend. This is a great event to get to meet people and is always much fun for kids and pets too!

July 7, 2012: Benton Park's Uncle Sam Throwdown Concert: 5 pm to 10 pm. A celebration of our nation's independence with food, drink, attractions and great music. Bands to be announced.

August 7, 2012: Benton Park National Night Out Party: We will host our first combined National Night Out Party in conjunction with city-wide and nation-wide event. We plan to have live music and other attractions. Stay tuned. This should be fun! Bands to be announced.

September 3, 2012: Benton Park Classic Criterium Bike Race - 4th leg of the Gateway Cup Bicycle Races: This is a full day of professional cycling racing throughout the Benton Park neighborhood. Live music, food, drink and other attractions. This is a great event that has drawn thousands in its 2 previous years in Benton Park.

October 6, 2012: Benton Park Art and Harvest Festival: Noon to 10 pm.  This is a great end of the summer all day celebration. It will include the 14th Annual Chalk Art Festival, the Benton Park VW Bus Show, Taste of Benton Park and great music. We are proud to announce that Jake's Leg will be returning to head up this show again. Other bands to be announced.

Late October, 2012: Gourd Glow: Members of the English Cave Community Garden sponsor a pumpkin carving for kids of all ages in the garden. Pumpkins are provided free of charge and volunteers are on hand to help little ones with the carving. At dusk the lighted Jack-O-Lanterns are paraded to Benton Park for a display around the large lagoon.

December 4, 2012: Holiday Party: The final event of the year is a Holiday Party with dinner and entertainment provided by the Association. 6 pm to 10 pm at the Lemp Stables.
